tried downloading divX but it tells me that it's an illegal operation, any ideas what other downloads i can use thats the same as divX :D

i've been told that i can copy vcd's/svcd's to a cdr/rw. is this true? and what software do i use to do this? i've tried neros but that seems a bit difficult. ive tried installing divX but a problem occurs somewhere along the line. im all confused by this and when ya find out somethings can...
