DVDx and LSX Encoder

Hi,

I have download the the old Ligos LSX Media Suite 2.0 which includes LSX Mpeg Encoder 3.5 and the encoder Plugin v1.2 but not the Plugin2.0 or 2.1.
Now I want to integrate the Mpeg Encoder into DVDx 2.0. What should I do ?
I`m newbie. Please give me tips.

and thats the ridiculous reply i expected.

if someone wants to try out a piece of software and ask a question then try answering with something other than "use the tuts" as your first response. fine if you want to reccomend them as an alternative but dont rubbish/disregard other programs so off handedly.

so to answer the actual question. you simply install the lsx premiere plugin then copy the .prm to the DVDx drawer. in output settings it should then be selectable.

dragonz,
firstly here we test all programs to see how well they work.
So it is not rubbish/disregard off handedly.
I am not someone who doesn't know what they are talking about.
Second being a mod or even if I wasn't, you don't reply with insults. Doing so will get you banned.
The tuts are here 'cause they work and give you the best results.
Why do you think people here don't recommend users to use Roxio products to backup their CDs? 'cause it isn't very good (so we don't bother with it).
DVDx isn't very good, so no need to bother with it.

PS
amoroso said he was a noob, so pointing them in the right direction helps (not just telling people how to use something that isn't very good).
I could easily tell someone how to use real media to backup their DVDs, but is that really helping them?

dear shadow,

respectfully I would like to say that i couldn't figure out any insult in dragonz answer. Moreover, it is not very nice of you to threaten him with banning. Ok, he might have been a little bit sarcastic, but with a good reason, also in my opinion. Coz Chickenman might have some great tuts, worth to be read anyway. But especially for a newbie - i would call myself also a newbie in this field - i would like to point out that DVDx is very friendly and easy to use. The results might not have the best quality but they are good enough to be watched on a standalone DVD player without getting headaches after 2 hours. It was also for me a good start. And i also think that there might be persons out there not being complete freaks like us, running all the time after the best quality.
I would like to highlight that all I have written here is supposed to be respectful and without any intention of sarcasm, cynism or insult.

@joripe

just to make it clear: I very much appreciate the work you are doing and like this place as it is. I also am a person which by default hates flaming and insulting. And I agreed that dragonz was pretty sarcastic, exactly for the sentence you cited. But I don't think that this was a reason to threaten him with banning ,and I also think that in a way he was wright: giving the answer to the ORIGINAL question AND showing the correct direction (i.e. in this case Chickenman's Tutorials) would be the best solution .
OK, i realized now that I made a mistake myself, by entering such a discussion, because inspite having a good intention (of keeping peace between shadow and dragonz) it is exactly the way how it could escalate. So I will from now on keep my mouth shut and mind my own things, posts and threads. My appologies ...

U may not have noticed but "flaming" is strictly out of order in this Forum & even minor transgressions will get U a warning. This is a friendly place & the senior members Gold Members Mods & Admins WILL keep it that way:cool:
joripe summed it up well as above. I make no further comment on that issue.

I have used DVDx many times to see its versatility and final results. Personly I find the program clumbersome and to cofront the newbie with all those tick boxes, option, etc must be a night mare. I really dont find it any easier or user friendly than as the DVD2AVI/TMPEnc method I have written about. The final VCD it makes is quite poor overall, the best is to frameserve to TMPGEnc, the worst is the internal routine followed very closely by the LSX Pluggin. If you can get the Panasonic pluggin to work at all then your 1 in a 1000.

dragonz has told you how to enable the LSX Pluggin in DVDx but my advice is much the same as Shadoe_Phantom and consider the DVD2AVI/TMPGenc method for making your VCD's, just as easy and with great results rather than poor to medium results.

teutonu,
I assure you if you give DVD2SVCD tut a go, you won't use another program for SVCD's. I don't make VCD's(85%) because the video quality not near SVCD(93&). You'll be amazed at the quality of video DVD2SVCD& Cinema Craft Encoder produces ;)
I'm not an advanced video editor, encoder, nor am I a beginner. Thanks to shadow_phantom& ChickenMan, they showed me the "light" and the right programs to burn SVCD, VCD, DivX, AVI.

Shoebedobedoo:cool:
Thanks again ChickenMan for your outstanding tuts :D

hey guys,
have i ever mentioned that today i'm also with dvd2svcd & CCE. And have i mentioned that i arrived at this by reading this forum and especially your tuts Chickenman ?? Well if I missed to say it than it's time to say Thank you.
Nevertheless B4 hitting this forum i started with DVDx and it was affordable. Far less boxes than DVD2SVCD ... and a pretty good guide at doom9.net
I never said DVDx is THE solution, and I never will say something against the more experienced users. I also said that there are better ways. There is always a better way, isn't it ??? But some solutions suit you better than others. We should not forget the personal component of the users.

teutonu,
I thank you for your candor, but I was not threatning to ban the person, just merely stating that if you use insults or flame on the board, that is what the end result will be. I think I was curtious enough to point out why I responded as I did.
Healthy debates are allowed here ofcourse, as long as they conform with the rules. Everyone knows I will go toe to toe on topics, but do try to keep it clean. I'll admit at times it can get out of hand, but we are trying to be a little stricter on things now to insure they do not.

PS
I don't see any sarcasm in what was said in the post at question. I think it was pretty direct.

well it wasnt meant to be insultive just an agreement of opinion stated on this very board. there is a thread where someone else (forget who) said they were tired of seeing "use the tuts" used as the answer for everything. if you insist i will even go and find it and provide the link. sorry if it was taken the wrong way.

my main point still stands though. if someone wants to try out other software and asks how to do something in it then the best thing to do is answer their question first and then give alternatives.

and just because some people on here dont like DVDx doesnt make it bad. i think the avi and vcd output is pretty good. for svcd the quality can be improved by using something like the cce plugin but of course it wont be on par to the tutorials method. that doesnt mean it should be disregarded or not at least tried/looked at by noobs.

as for talking like a mod, you mean because i dont agree with something that was said ? in other words if i think helping someone by answering the actual question asked and also telling them to try the tuts is better than just saying "use the tuts and forget everything else" i am trying to be a mod ? sorry but i see it as just giving a different opinion of a better way to reply to the question. if you want to disagree thats up to you. everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even me.

now there has been no flaming or insulting in this post. yes i have stated my thoughts plainly and i havent agreed with what was said about my earlier post.

Hi,
now I have installed the cce plugin in DVDx; not LSX.
When trying to use DVDx, something is wrong.

"”cce encoding failed: exception occurred at frm_cap_video buffer:sync”

Which settings are right for SVCD: System, video, bitrate, quality, Gop ???

What is my mistake?
Cu, Amoroso

I'm sorry I cant help you with specifics of DVDx as its been to long since I've used it really.

Using DVD2SVCD instead of DVDx does all the working out for you. To make a SVCD all you do is load in the IFO file off the DVD, select if you want to make an image or mpg file, and click GO. Works for 99% of all DVD's. No settings to set, fiddle or bitrates to calculate. Does it all for and cuts the file to fit to each CD ready to burn. If you want to fine tune it the settings are there to fiddle with, I explain most in my tutorial.

If your serious about SVCD, then stop playing with the toys and get the real thing, DVD2SVCD.

@dragonz I have read what you have said, I agree and that leaves ABSOLUTELY nothing more to talk about. If this goes on any further on anything other than the discussion of the original topic, I will close this thread.

Hi ChickenMan,

thanks for your answer. I tryed DVD2SVCD with your tutorial and it works great.

But by “Planet of the apes”, it failed. With the normal settings in the film are actors to see and the audio file is not correct. DVDx (without cce) has copied the film at once and all was correct.
So I had the idea to use cce with DVDx, when DVD2SVCD failed. As an alternative.
But DVDx without cce is very slow.

Cu, Amoroso

Try using DVD2AVI & TMPGEnc then as an alternative. A 2 pass done this way is the same quality as 2 pass with CCE via DVD2SVCD. Its slower than using CCE however.

Just follow the DVD to VCD tutorial but select the SVCD template.

Hi chickenman,

whre can I find the programs DVD2avi and a patch for TMPG.
Is DVd2avi an all in one prgramm as DVDX??
Which tutorial you mean? I have used the search button, but haven t found it.

amoroso1,
You can find DVD2AVI at doom9. As far as the patch or crack for TMPG, use our handy dandt search feature and type in what you need ;) The tuts ChickenMan assembled can be located in our DVD section. Just click "home"^, then scroll near the bottom, can't miss them :D

The direct link to this is http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=160

No the DVD2AVI is not an all in one or anything similar. Its a tool that allows direct frameserving of DVD data to TMPGEnc and also strips out the audio.

There are at least 4 threads with cracks for TMPGenc v 2.57, just do a search fpr "2.57" and you will find them.

@Shoebie My Tutorials are not in the DVD section, they are in the Movies section http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=28

um

“Planet of the apes”, it failed. With the normal settings in the film are actors to see and the audio file is not correct

rip with smart ripper

joanna, your R2 version of Planet of the Apes may actually be interlaced. In TMPGEnc's Settings, go to Advanced / Deinterlace and select "Even-Odd Field (field)".

As for the Audio, what exactly is the problem?
