Well i'm using ACDSee 3.1 on a Pll-350 with 512mb ram and a 5400 rpm maxtor drive, and had never the problems with it that i'm reading in this thread. I'm using it daily with directory's with more than 21000 images, and bigger than 1 gig. Compupic pro 6.1 is faster and have more functionality, such as a wallpaperchanger and more and better image editing tools. ACDSee 4 is in my opinion SLOwer than the above imagebrowsersnomis_nehc said:it depends on where you stand. if you only have couplehundred images in a directory, then 3.1 is good enough. but if you have a lot a lot of images (me) you'll know that 4 is the way to go.
why? easy, you try to browse through the directory with 3.1 that has couple thousand images... what happens? bam, the app craps out.
don't believe me, try it out for yourself. oh, and it's the same for media files too. when it's over a gig or so, it'll crap. (not sure on the exact size)
